From our sommeliers

The Derthona from Vigneti Massa is an expressive white wine that is very territorial, produced from white grapes. The aromatic profile is floral and citrusy, characterized by great freshness and minerality.

The Derthona Vigneti Massa is an iconic and representative white, produced by what is the true pioneer of Timorasso in Italy. There are not many cases where the idea of a grape variety is almost entirely associated with a winemaker, and when this happens, it means that one is dealing with a true flagbearer, capable of revitalizing and promoting a territory, just like in the case of Walter Massa with Timorasso and the Colli Tortonesi. A showman and a profound connoisseur of vineyard and territory, Walter took the reins of the family winery in the 1970s, deciding to make a radical turn in local viticulture, favoring local varieties, limiting yields, and minimizing treatments in the vineyard, but above all, realizing the enormous potential of Timorasso and elevating it to the status of the local flagship white grape. The wines, ranging from deep and territorial reds to long-lasting whites, are true pieces of Italian wine history, indispensable in the cellar of every enthusiast.

The Derthona wine takes its name from one of the most famous crus dedicated to Timorasso, and Walter's wine is precisely a pure expression of the same grape variety. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, minimal intervention is practiced, and in the winery, the process is consistent, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentations and aging of the liquid on the fine lees.

The Derthona Vigneti Massa reveals itself in the glass with a medium intensity straw-yellow color. The nose is broad and rich, where clear hints of acacia honey, flint, and white flowers emerge, creating a profile that intertwines fleshiness and mineral puffs. The sip is filling and has a creamy texture, perfectly balanced between its material richness and the saline component that significantly extends the wine's persistence. Undisputed flagbearer.
